What is the Introductory Course?

A self-paced introduction to Montessori principles in dementia, disability and aging care. For care partners, care professionals, and anyone supporting an adult living with dementia, disability, or the changes that come with aging.

The Introductory Course is about WHY.

Why the same situations keep repeating.
Why what you have tried has not held.
Why the answer usually sits in the environment rather than in the person.

It is also the prerequisite for the MDDA Practitioners Certification Course, which is the HOW.

AMI certification pathway available.

  • Why the same situations keep repeating, and what they're responding to
  • How the environment shapes what an adult in your care can do
  • What makes engagement meaningful across different cognitive levels
  • How to structure conversation so someone participates fully
  • Why communication lands or doesn't, and what changes it
  • That adults living with dementia or disability can still learn, and what makes it possible

Montessori for Dementia, Disability and Aging Practitioners Certification Course is a framework for care, not a clinical protocol. This course equips practitioners with principles and methods to support engagement, dignity, and quality of life. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace the medical guidance of the care teams practitioners work alongside.
